👃🏼Wet Wool, quince, Almond, pear, yellow Apples, citrus

👅 Less pronounced than on the nose! Crescendo acidity - seeems flabby at first but then hits you like a train!

Would strongly reccomend to keep it in the cellar for another couple of years!

HUGE QPR!!!

A bit annoyed about this wine, i need to admit. It had virtually no nose. So nothing to start the experience with. As it might have been too cold, we took it out of the cooler and waited a bit. To no avail, as it stayed utterly muted. On the palate it showed a nice glycerin texture and a nice balance, w crisp acidity underpinning the rounded mouthfeel. It showed hints of tropical fruits, but overall stayed muted also on the palate. So started to analyze and guess, retrying and getting after the sense of the wine.

The sommelier did a brilliant sales job pointing us to the bottle, but i did regret not having stayed with the st aubin I initially put my eyes on.

This finally aged enough to be enjoyable. Very nice Cab Franc that goes with anything in a casual setting. Needs some air (gave it about 90 minutes) but the fruit shows and it went very well with a whole assortment of Mediterranean stuff. Not going to knock your socks off but a good value every day wine.

Light tulip color. Lots of oak vanillin at first which ameliorates over a few hours to reveal more fruit. Medium+ weight, not as glycerine and dense as these wines can be. Obvious oak tones, a touch of herbs, then some later citrus. The richness of the year buffers the usual acidity. At least excellent, but as usual, there is a lot of wood that needs to be shed before it comes into balance.

Très fin, bonne acidité comme tout les vins de Guiberteau, peut-etre un peu trop, beau fruit un peu mince mais son point fort est sa belle pureté. Bien honnête pour 60$ a l'époque mais je n'achète pas a 95$
Un vin qui nécessite encore un bon 5 ans afin que l'acidité se calme.

Some noticeable age on the Nose and Palate -- it comes across as appropriately advanced for its age. More youthful than my previous bottle on 01/28/22. Light wafts of ginger and honey on the moderately-aged Nose. Palate leans a bit to the lighter side, and it came across as a bit watery / lacking in density and depth. Given how well my previous bottle responded to healthy air exposure, it's certainly possible this bottle, too, would have similarly benefited if given the opportunity. Drink Now and over the near term.

Sans la flamboyance de la première bouteille mais de très belle expression. Plus jeune d'attendu et doté d'un fruit mûr frais, le vin possède un très bel équilibre avec une structure noble qui évite la facilité ennuyante. Encore au moins deux ans avant la dernière. 90+?

Haven’t touched one of these in years, and the time has been good to it: complex, bright but not screeching acidity, and with the primary lemon and apple fruit now taking a back seat to richer, deeper flavors, though this is still only in early middle age. A fabulous spring food wine, and a wine for contemplation too. Glad I have another; I’ll sample across vintages and bottlings and let this last one sit for another 5 years at a minimum.

"Pairs with Sadness" (Chicago, IL): Guiberteau just doesn't do it for me. This shows a bit of chenin wooliness and honeycomb, and with air the oak starts to become more and more prominent. High acidity but there just doesn't seem to be much there, there. For the price these go for nowadays, there's plenty of better chardonnay. Or if you're insisting on chenin -- just drink Huet.

Intense nose with grilled aromas, a hint of reduction then once this has dissipated, lime and a herbaceous touch.

Very nicely matured palate, there is tension with menthol coming through. The aromas of toasted bread gradually give way to a very charming lime. Sensation of a ripe wine. Beautiful finish, much more elongated than the mouth.

Very good wine even if the grilled style tires me a little.

Birthday party (Chicago, IL): From magnum. High acid, but lacking complexity and definition on the palate. Must admit I am not a big fan of this style of chenin (Huet is the way chenin should be made) and I'd much rather drink chardonnay if it's made like this.

Medium yellow in color. Aromas of yellow citrus zest, florals, quince, wool and hay on the nose. Shows good texture on the palate with waxy yellow citrus fruits, a savory herbal note, good acidity and an engaging bitter/citrus pith finish. Compared to a previous bottle the acidity has settled down.

Tulip colored. Hay, lanolin, and faint citrus on the nose. What is most arresting about this is the texture-broad, glycerine, creamy, and concentrated. Yes, there is some wood, but in proportion to the tremendous material here. A bit lactic, strong soil, grapefruit and bitter citrus, and thrilling acidity. This would easily compete with or outcompete many Grand Cru white Burgundies and is one of the greatest dry Loire wines I’ve ever had. All of this from a middling Touraine vintage. Remarkable.

Feels like this is in a dumb phase right now, nose was overwhelmingly reductive and never really blew off even after a splash decant. Luckily palate was much more generous with citrus and orchard fruits, prominent vanilla. Medium + to high acidity. I would hold off on opening another any time soon.

Day 5: even less oaky, and still delicious. Gut impression score: 90 – 95?

Light but classic chenin nose, palate is fairly crisp and fresh, with medium depth of fruit, starting to show hints of more savory that this wine can develop as it ages. Good acidity, and some steely minerality. I’d like to have some salinity, which is mostly missing, and the finish tapers off a bit fast. Not quite up to expectations for a wine of its caliber, in what should be an excellent vintage, but may just need more years to get there.

The funk that previously presented as a yougurty cotton candy was subsumed under a more gun flinty, green pepper note that seemed out of place. Quite a bit of bottle variation on these. Still a lovely wine.

Light hay color, classic chenin nose, then a wonderfully medium intense palate, crisp, flavorful, nice salinity comes out on the finish. Writing this on the second night, on night one the wine was tighter, a little leaner and more steely. Tonight more open, a bit more flesh on the bones, young but delicious.

Tasty, if not all too complex. Didn’t detect the reduction others have mentioned, but that could be due to a brief decant. Tart red cherry, bell pepper, a hint of matcha.
